We ask that you provide us with a précis of no more than 700 words of your intended presentation topic.

To clarify, a complete précis should include the following:

A clear statement of your thesis

A general outline of the arguments and claims you will use to support or defend your thesis

Definitions and elaborations for technical, vague, or ambiguous terms or claims

Citations of academic work where necessary

Your précis will be the basis upon which we will judge the potential of your submission. If we think that your submission has the potential to be presented at SUPC, we will contact you for further discussion and information on your intended presentation topic. To give yourself the best chance of being approved for further deliberation, do ensure that your précis has the following qualities:

Is philosophically interesting and substantive (or shows potential to be as such)

Is clear and concise

Displays originality

Is of a suitable length for a (roughly) 30-minute presentation

Has a robust argumentative structure with a clear flow

Is accessible to those with a passing knowledge of the relevant field of philosophy
